Rinsed off the saltwater and took it to the mountains for the long shots. It is small enough for a pocket and great for hiking and backpacking - no worries on dropping. It was the perfect camera for her, not only did she make some great shots of scenery, but awesome close-ups. It is easy to use and clear with great options.
The camera leaked.
It seems easy to use. I have not read the manual yet, but I will do it before going snorkeling. The instructions provided with the camera, as well as the camera itself, are targeted toward PC users. There are no instructions with the camera, and none I can find so far online, for Mac users.
Last, I wasn't able to find a details view of any picture or movie file to see the kb size. I expected a 300.00 camera to not have the lens protector issue. Panorama was difficult to make work right. It is only a mediocre camera.
Probably seven out of ten pictures are terrible. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable in picture taking and I have tried changing all the functions and nothing improves the quality. Bought the camera for a trip to Hawaii and so happy I did! Takes great pictures and had great success with its ease of use and waterproof ability. Found the digital zoom fuzzy and worthless but overall a great deal - excellent improvements over the older models and well worth the price. Before purchasing this camera I did a lot of research. Hopefully they will replace it again and then I will immediately be putting it on eBay and using the funds to find my husband a different water proof camera. This is ridicules. Some people incorrectly refer to this is "excessive shutter lag." This is not the case: The default setting for this camera is to display the photo just taken for about four seconds after pressing the shutter button so the user can view the image.
We haven't gone yet, but have used it around the house. It is good so far.
I love this camera, and its predecessor the Olympus 770 SW (which worked fine, but I lost it). However, after less than 3 weeks of use, it will turn on but then nothing else happens, and the power button has to be pressed twice to turn it off, because the first time the lens cover closes then opens again. Excellent pictures video and good quality, the color are very strong, you can have some fun when you try to get pictures over the water! It is beautiful, and it takes amazing pictures!
